International

*Where applicable import taxes, duties and/or VAT will be payable by the receiver to the authorities in their country prior to the parcel being delivered

From July 2020 all international parcels are shipped via DHL door to door couriers only due to the impact of Covid19 restrictions on the regular postal service.

Shipping costs are reviewed for every shop update and adjusted based on fuel price and ZAR/USD exchange. Costs include transaction fees. Annual DHL rate increase on January 1st of each year.

Currently increased fuel prices are leading to higher rates.

April 2026 ~ to ship a parcel containing between 1-14 skeins via DHL couriers:

USD54 - Africa, Western & Central Europe

USD67 - USA  

USD84 - Eastern Europe, Middle East, Eastern Asia, Southern Asia, Japan, Asia Pacific, Canada & South America

Larger parcels are charged according to the weight and volumetric size of the parcel. 

Certain addresses to countries where DHL have less coverage (especially to Australia, New Zealand, Iceland, Japan) or addresses in outlaying areas will attract a "remote area surcharge" of USD28. High risk areas (especially the middle east) attracts a risk surcharge of USD40. This will be billed for separately via Paypal. Surcharged parcels are only shipped once full payment is received.

The DHL service offers comprehensive online tracking and emails will be sent dircetly from DHL regarding the movements of a parcel. Delivery is quick, within a week from collection to Central Europe and USA, a little longer to the rest of the world.

Please make sure to supply the correct shipping address for door-to-door delivery and contact details, all in Roman characters when placing an order. 

Parcels are shipped as soon as possible after each shop update. The admin can be very time consuming, please keep in mind that Yama Yarn is a one person business, kindly be patient.

Multiple orders will be combined when possible and if there are overpaid shipping costs, a refunded will be done via PayPal. A USD12 admin fee is applicable. The refunds are done 2-3 weeks after shipping of orders.

Customers residing outside of South Africa who would like a parcel to be shipped to a South African address can supply a correct local address at checkout under "shipping address" (customer's correct personal non South African address must be supplied under "billing address"). The website will offer local shipping options in USD. 

Within South Africa

Parcels within South Africa are shipped using either of the follow methods:

Door to door courier to main centres at approx. R140 (max. 2kg mass and/or volume)

Postnet counter to counter at approx.R140 (max. 5kg mass and/or volume)

Parcels are shipped during the 2 weeks following the shop update. Delivery within South Africa takes 2-3 days from date of shipping via courier or Postnet.

Refund & Returns Policy

Any queries regarding refunds or returns will be handled individually.

No refunds will be offered on lost or damaged parcels, shipping is at own risk.

No refunds will be offered should the receiver be unwilling to pay import taxes/duties/VAT that may be charged by the authorities in their country.
